Welcome into Karolinas world. A world of colour.
"To Create is my passion, a way to practice life. Colors has been of greatest importance as long as I can remember. And some years ago I left the high-level-kind of lifestyle job and decided to choose another way of living. Be my own. Today I´m an educated construction painter, my specialities is colorsettings (NCS) and egg oil tempera. I primarily work with this ancient method egg oil tempera, it comes from the Earth and turns back there, without harming the environment. You can use it on most surfaces, walls, clay, wood, on carpentry, linen, paper etc. Also as an artists material.
I also -constantly- create with my crouchet hook. I remember croucheting during the breaks in school when I was 9-10 years old... In highschool I was knitting in class while listening. The crouchet hook is following me wherever I go! I'm addicted to yarn I'm sure is. And I wish there was more hours each day - my head is spinning of new ideas, all the time...
And I would like to thank you for visiting my page. What you could see here is just a small selection of sleeves (wristwarmers), angels and other figures I have done. I like to develop old ideas into new shapes/apperances. It is amazing how many times you can twist an original idea.
The wristwarmers are sold by Oleana & Friends in Stockholm, Sweden.
You will
find an overview of my own designs on "Överblick, skapandet" and more
of wristwarmers and angels in their separate pages.
Come back later and I will have pictures of my egg oil tempera works.
Among many things I've have studied Grapic Design and Art History in US, and done Colorstudies at the Institute for the Natural Color System (NCS) in Sweden. What music is for some people - colors is for me. Composing colors is like composing music.
/Karolina
Ps. The name "Lila Ateljén" means "the Purple Studio". Purple has always been my favorite colour as long as I can remember.
I'm proud to know my work will be found around the world. Even in places I never been to.. People have bought my work as gifts (like after the tsunami in 2004).
When you buy or are given a piece from me you will know that every single one is unique, I make small changes all the time (except for the figures in the Swedish National Costume - but they still often have different facial expressions).
To bring what I
make not seldom open doors... Give someone an angel... that means
something, small gestures often tells the reciever a lot!
The sleeves are mostly made of Alpacka, a very soft wool. The skirts are made of either cotton or wool...
If there is anything you would like to comment, ask - or order - please send me a note. In the guestbook here "Lila Ateljéns gästbok" or send an e-mail: karolina@lila-ateljen.se
I'm greatful and love life
Once again, /Karolina
